Askew’s Testimonial
“Denied short term disability because my injury was pre-existing from the military. Lost my apartment, became homeless as everyone I thought cared turned their back on me. Major surgery in two weeks, sleeping in a car, nowhere to recover. But my prayers didn’t go unanswered because Joseph & Sarah Caring for Vets saved me. The organization took me in when I had nowhere to go, fed me, and made sure I had transportation to all of my appointments. Thanks to Joseph & Sarah Caring for Vets I had a place to heal after surgery and the assistance I needed to get back on my feet. A True Blessing".

If you want to get yourself together JSCV is the place to be. JSCV has given me the opportunity to get myself together. I was homeless and they gave me a home until I was able to get my own. I thank Allah for Ms. Denise and JSCV. When I saw my room I said to myself ‘this is home’. ("God changes not the condition of the people until the people change the condition of their heart" - Quran 13:11).

“I came to JSCV down & out. A nice lady named Ms. Denise showed me what life was all about. You 1st have to be true to yourself if you want your situation to change. Like N.A or A.A. you have to bow down. You can’t run around and joke about life like a clown. You got to get serious and get down if you want to smile to be happy, and erase the frown. I wanted to do things my way. Ms.Denise said you have to try another way. See I didn’t want to listen or take advice. A person like Ms. Denise I never seen so nice, she cares for vets with a heart of gold it doesn’t matter if you're young or old”.

Mr. Waltower’s Testimonial
"When I entered the program in August 2013, it felt like a safe haven from the very beginning. Denise and Ms. Stephanie Willis were so kind and compassionate towards me. We talked, set goals and ground rules...all leading towards the goal of self-sufficiency. On September 5, 2014, I signed the lease for my new apartment! It was time to move out of the nest. I cannot overstate Denise's role and the program’s concern for me during a very vulnerable time. I could have landed in any number of unpleasant situations. Yet, it was God’s will for me to be at J & S Caring for Veterans. I was able to accomplish those goals because of the transitional/case management services I received from J & S Caring for Veterans".
